Saudi Arabia Visa for Spanish Citizens – Best Time to Apply

Do I have to send my passport to get a visa to Saudi Arabia? Is it safe to send a passport?
Yes. You will have to send your original passport, not a copy of it. The Saudi Arabia visa is a sticker or stamp that is stamped on one of the pages of your passport. Visas can not be processed without your original passport. Due to the importance of your passport, we suggest that you submit your application by a secure method, such as a courier.

Requirements for a business trip to Saudi Arabia for Spanish citizens

1. Visa registration

   A prior visa registration is required by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CIBTvisas will charge 10.25 Euros corresponding to the prior registration process for the visa. Please note that CIBTvisas requires a minimum of one business day to complete the registration process.

2. Passport

   You must send your original passport. The passport must:

   • Be a biometric passport (chip)
   • Have a minimum validity of 1 year 
   • Have at least two contiguous blank pages
3. Photographs

   You must attach a passport size color photograph. The photograph must meet the following requirements:

   • Have been taken in the last three months and printed on high quality photographic paper
   • Have white background
   • Have a measurement of 35mm by 45mm
   • have been taken from facing the camera and with a neutral expression (without smiling)
   • Taken without glasses and bareheaded except for religious purposes
   • The photo must not be attached to the application and must not have staple marks or adhesive tape
4. Letter of Invitation

   Invitation letter from the Saudi company. The letter must:

   • Match the information mentioned in the cover letter of the Spanish company
   • Be printed on the official model provided by the “Chamber of Commerce of Saudi Arabia”
   • Be legalized and sent by the “Chamber of Commerce of Saudi Arabia”
   • Have the stamp of the inviting company in Saudi Arabia once printed. May be a color scanned copy
   • Have an authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia if the applicant is a woman
   • Not be older than three months.
   • Detail the purpose of the trip and the activities to be carried out in the country

   It is important that the letter is registered and sent by the Chamber of Commerce of Saudi Arabia to the Consulate of Saudi Arabia in Madrid so that it appears in the consulate’s database. The registration number of the inviting company in Arabia must begin with 700, otherwise you must attach a copy of the Commercial Registry and a copy of the ID of the owner of the company in Arabia.

   The invitation letter can also be an authorization from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.

5. Business cover letter

   You must provide an original business cover letter from the applicant’s Spanish employer. The letter must be printed on letterhead that shows the postal address of the company in Spain. You can use our sample business cover letter which can be found here .

   All business presentation letters should be addressed to the consulate. The address of the consulate can be found here

   In addition to the language provided in the form letter, your business cover letter must:

   • Be original and legalized by the Superior Council of Chambers
   • Include the full name of the applicant (as it appears in the passport), the passport number, his profession and position in the company
   • Indicate the VAT number of the company. The CIF number must coincide with the name of the company registered in the Superior Council of Chambers.
   • Match exactly the information mentioned in the invitation letter
   • Be addressed to the “Consulate of Saudi Arabia in Spain” for the attention of “His Excellency Consul for Visas”

6. Copy of passport

   A legible photocopy of the applicant’s passport information and data sheet (s)

7. Travel reservation

   A copy of the flight reservation showing the entry and exit of the country

8. Health insurance

   The Saudi Arabian Embassy requires that all applications be submitted with a health insurance policy from a government approved provider. CIBTvisas will obtain the health insurance policy on your behalf upon completion of the visa registration procedure. CIBTvisas will not charge for this service, however, the costs for medical insurance are from $ 21 USD to $ 300 USD. The Saudi Arabian Embassy applies an additional insurance processing fee of € 10.25 in addition to the price of the policy for this process.

9. personal statement

   You must provide the form of “Personal Declaration” duly completed and signed, which can be found in the CIBTvisas application guide.

10. Visa application form

    The form must:

    • Be completed by computer or typewriter and have an original signature. Hand-filled forms will not be accepted
    • Have the signature exactly the same as the passport signature
    • The religion field must be filled in, choose only one of the following options: Muslim or No Muslim (Muslim or non-Muslim)
11. Declaration of Authenticity Form

12. Additional Form

    An original signed supplemental form. Applicants must print their name and date the English section of this document

13. Additional photocopies

15. Visa Conditions
    • The Saudi Arabian consulate does not issue visas if you are in possession of a valid visa. If you have a valid visa and need to apply for a new visa, please contact CIBTvisas to request information on how to proceed.
    • The type, validity and number of allowed entries of the visa will be granted according to the invitation sent from Saudi Arabia and the decision of the consulate.
16. Technical Professionals

    If the applicant’s profession or work is related to technical work, a letter of invitation is required for “work visit” and not business visit

17. Self-Employed Applicants
    • The cover letter must be original and legalized by the Local Chamber of Commerce and later by the Superior Chamber of Commerce
    • The invitation letter must be addressed directly to the applicant and specify the full name in the “name of the invited body” section.
    • Self-employed applicants must present a copy of the last six self-employed payments and the certificate of registration as self-employed.
18. Companies established abroad

    Applicants working for a company based abroad and not based in Spain must legalize the business cover letter. The letter must be legalized by:

    • The Chamber of Commerce of the country where the company is located
    • The consulate of Saudi Arabia in the country where the company is located

1. Requirements for E-visa

   The Government of Saudi Arabia requires travelers with their nationality to obtain an electronic visa. The traveler will receive an authorization from the government to enter Saudi Arabia. It is the equivalent of a visa but no label or stamp is put on the passport.

   To request it it is necessary:

   • Have a passport with a minimum validity of 6 months upon entry and with a blank visa page
   • Check sufficient funds
   • Have flight reservation showing entry and exit
   • Comply with all the requirements specified in the electronic Visa order form

   An e-Visa for Saudi Arabia is a multiple entry visa valid for 1 year and allows a stay of up to 90 days.
