The University of Calabar, Calabar (UNICAL) Postgraduate Courses/Programms available for admission. These are the UNICAL PGD, Master and PhD courses prospective PG students can choose from during their application.
The courses available for selection has its own requirements without which no provisional admission whatsoever would be offered to any candidate who fails to meet the requirements.
Prospective candidates who seek admission into Postgraduate Programmes at University of Calabar, Calabar (UNICAL) are expected to check the list of courses available. They are to confirm that the course they seek is available for admission for the session.
Post Graduate School Pursuant to the University of Calabar Degree of 1979, in which is enshrined the desire to “encourage and promote scholarship and conduct research in all fields of learning and human endeavour, and to relate its activities to the social, cultural, and economic needs of the people of Nigeria”, graduate education began quite early at the University of Calabar.
It became the pattern in all faculties that once an undergraduate programme had taken roots, a graduate programme soon followed. Graduate studies began in the 1978/79 session when the Board of Post-graduate Studies was set up to organize graduate level courses and research and admit students.
Below are the post graduate programms offered in UNICAL and their requirement
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS The following academic programmes are available in the Department of Agricultural Economics.
1. MSc and PhD in Farm Management and Production Economics
2. MSc and PhD in Agricultural Marketing and Cooperative
3. MSc and PhD in Development and Policy
4. MSc and PhD in Agricultural Finance
5. MSc and PhD in Agribusiness Management
6. PGD in Agricultural Economics
The entry requirements are same as the general requirements but candidates must have Agricultural Economics and related disciplines’ background. However, for the PGD programme, candidates with HND (Lower credit) in Agriculture and related disciplines would also be accepted.
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION AND RURAL SOCIOLOGY Entry Requirements The department offers courses according to specialization in the following areas:
i. M.Sc & Ph.D in Agric. Extension Administration and Management.
ii. M.Sc & Ph.D in Extension Communication and Information Technology.
iii. M.Sc & Ph.D in Agric. Extension Education.
iv. M.Sc & Ph.D in Rural and Community Development.
v. M.Sc & Ph.D in Rural Sociology.
vi. M.Sc & Ph.D in Environmental Extension Management.
vii. PGD in Agric. Extension & Rural Sociology.
