There are three ways to get a full scholarship to NYU: be in the top of your high school class, apply for a ROTC scholarship, and apply through the Questbridge Scholarship. (There are different pathways you can take to get a full scholarship to NYU.) Be in the top of your class? Good luck. It’s probably easier to go to college at a 4-year university and major in music or philosophy. The ROTC scholarship is open to people of all races and may even be available to kids from the lowest income families. The Questbridge Scholarship is much smaller in number, but those who make the most of it are often able to stay at NYU for 4 or 5 years. It’s also a good idea to see if you qualify for scholarships at other schools.

There are many different kinds of scholarships available at NYU. Some are merit based, others are need based, and others are still popularly referred to as “Silver Ring Scholarships”. However, these scholarships are all extremely competitive. So, when deciding on which scholarships to apply for, it’s important to choose wisely. Who qualifies for the NYC Questbridge Scholarship?
Anyone applying to NYU is automatically considered for this scholarship. NYU also has many more scholarships available for specific majors, like computer science, or astrophysics. If you don’t have your SAT or ACT score in hand, you will be required to submit a transcript and the completed Questbridge application form. How much money do you need? You can get $48,000 towards your first year’s tuition for the NYU Questbridge Scholarship. If you don’t have any experience in college, you can get $12,000 towards a full ride to NYU. Another $15,000 is possible for students studying computer science or engineering at NYU. The $48,000 option is perfect for students who don’t plan to transfer to a school in the east coast, but want to pursue a major in computer science or engineering.
How do I Apply for the NYC Questbridge Scholarship?
Once you have accepted a place at NYU, there will be a Questbridge orientation. This will be a 45-60 minute session where you will be given a checklist of things to bring and your school transcripts. If you have earned the NYC Questbridge scholarship, the money will be wired to you, usually in the next few days. If you have not earned this scholarship, you may need to send them an application and more information. Once you have your application all ready to go, make sure you apply as soon as possible.
