List of Nursing School in Nigeria – Nursing is an important healthcare profession in Nigeria that is seeing growth to help serve the country’s large and increasing population. There is demand for qualified nurses.

There are over 130 nursing and midwifery schools in Nigeria that have approval from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to train nurses. These include universities, colleges, schools of nursing/midwifery, and more.

To become a registered nurse in Nigeria requires completing an accredited nursing education program, which is typically 3-4 years. Students earn diplomas, Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) or Bachelor’s degrees.

The curriculum in Nigerian nursing schools aims to provide theoretical knowledge and clinical practicum experience across subjects like anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, and more.

Besides nursing schools, hospitals also provide post-basic nursing education in specialized areas like perioperative, critical care, pediatric nursing etc.

There are challenges in nursing education like lack of standardization, quality variability in schools, shortage of qualified faculty, high fees in some private institutions etc. But efforts are ongoing to address these.
