Nintendo Switch – How To Set Up, Connect and Play.

Nintendo Switch is the newest installment of Nintendo’s popular handheld console, the 3DS. The Switch is a hybrid gaming device that can be played on a TV in addition to playing games on the go with its built-in screen. It also has a standard and motion controller called the Joy-Con which can be attached either left or right of the screen. This sleek design is surprisingly easy to set up and connect, but for those who are new to it, some basic instructions are provided here so you can get started quickly.

Basic Switch Setup

Before you begin setting up the Switch, it’s important to understand that the Switch is a hybrid console which means that it can be used in two different modes. One of these modes is called “TV mode” which allows the user to transition from playing on their TV to playing on their handheld device with ease. The other method is called “handheld mode” which allows the user to continue playing as they were while connected over WiFi.

To connect your Switch, plug one end of the HDMI cable into your Switch and plug the other end into your TV. Next, connect both controllers by plugging one controller wire into each side of the Dock station where the Joy-Cons are connected. Finally, connect your Switch and TV with an ethernet cable so that you can get online without wifi interference.

Connecting to WiFi

Nintendo Switch does not come with a WiFi dongle, but you can use your smartphone to connect to the Switch. If your phone has a mobile hotspot feature, it’s likely that your cell phone carrier already has a hotspot for you. If not, you will need to purchase one separately or you can use your home WiFi connection or data plan.

Once your device is connected to the internet, simply turn on the power and wait for the Switch logo to appear on the top right of the screen. Then press and hold the left side of any Joy-Con controller and wait for all lights on both controllers to flash before pressing any buttons on either controller.

Connecting to the Internet

To start using your Switch, you’ll need to connect it to the Internet. To do so, plug one of the two included cables into a USB port on your Switch and then plug the other end into any available wall outlet.

After connecting, you’ll see a screen that prompts you to select your Wi-Fi network followed by a prompt asking if you’d like to automatically connect to the network. Select “Yes” if you want to automatically connect and don’t want to manually enter in credentials later. Otherwise, select “No” and follow these steps:

Select “Set Up Internet Connection.” From here, choose “I have an existing Home Network” and then select your home’s SSID from the list of available networks it shows. Your Switch will then try to connect with your home network and provide information about what’s happening during this process.

Your Switch should now be connected to the Internet!

Connecting to a TV Screen

To connect to your TV with the Switch, you need to have a Nintendo Switch dock or a compatible HDMI cable. If you already have one of those, go ahead and skip this step and follow the instructions on how to set up the controller.

Before connecting your Switch to the TV, make sure that your TV is switched on. If you don’t know which input is for your TV and what button it uses, refer to your TV’s manual.

To connect your Nintendo Switch to a TV screen, first take off the switch cover from the back of the console and insert any game cartridges into it. The system will automatically detect all connected game cartridges (and controllers) when you start up the Nintendo Switch software.

Using the Switch Controller and Joy-Con

The Switch comes with two controllers, the left Joy-Con and the right Joy-Con. The left Joy-Con has a standard single analogue control stick on it as well as a share button, home/start button, and the ZL and ZR shoulder buttons. The right Joy-Con is identical except for the fact that its L and R shoulder buttons are replaced with plus and minus buttons.

To put this controller together, you first need to make sure that it’s charged properly. With either controller, all you have to do is slide down on the front of the device to open up its compartmentalized lid. Take out either of the two controllers by sliding it out from inside of there. You can then attach them onto either side of your screen or use them separately if you want to play in handheld mode only.

Now that your controllers are attached to your Switch, you should be able to see a few different options on your screen that you can configure according to what type of game or setting you will be playing with them. One change worth mentioning is that when attaching any controller at all, you will also be given an option to select which side of the screen they are attached too – this needs to be

Conclusion

Nintendo Switch is a new gaming console. To set up, connect, and play, you need to know a few basic things about the Switch.
