Brief History of Amberton university

Amberton university was founded in 1967 by a group of educators and students as a response to the problem of rural schools lack of access to quality education. The university has since grown to be one of the leading private universities in the United States. Amberton offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs in many disciplines, including business, engineering, law, and health sciences. Amberton has a unique approach to higher education that includes hands-on learning opportunities and an active student community.

Amberton is a private, non-denominational university located in Garland, Texas in the Dallas-Fort Worth Area United States.

It started out as an extension campus of Abilene Christian University from 1971 to 1982. It was initially located in  Mesquite, Texas, and moved to Garland in 1974.

The plans for its separation came because it received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1981. Hence it became known as Amber University in 1982, and “ton” a short form of “town” was added to its name in 2001.

Additionally, a branch campus was opened in Erisco, Texas in 2006.

Meanwhile, Amberton is specifically designed for working adults. Therefore it offers both classroom and online classes.

Accreditation of Amberton University

Amberton is duly accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

The curriculum for the Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling meets the academic requirements for licensing as a professional counselor in Texas.

The Master of Arts degree in School Counseling satisfies the academic and certification requirements for the School Counseling Certification as established by the Texas State Board of Educator Certification.

Amberton University Tuition

The tuition at Amberton University is charged per course. The tuition is $855. This rate is for undergraduates, graduates, in-state and out-of-state students as well as distance learning courses. In addition, there are special fees for students and those fees are non-refundable.

Amberton University’s tuition is among the lowest in the region.

It is important to note that the tuition fees are refundable. For example, any student who officially drops a class during the first week of the session will be entitled to a full refund of tuition. As the weeks go by, the percentage refund changes.

For all degree programs: most of the bachelors degree and masters can be completed online and the tuition is affordable. Just aply.

For Masters School Counselling Program: To become a professional school counsellor in Texas, you’ll learn in the classroom. This program is not offered online.

Requirements for International Students

  • Non-refundable $100 application fee. Students will pay $25 every session for INS report.
  • Apply to all Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) forms
  • Be over 21 years
  • Undergraduate students must have a minimum of 30 semester hours of acceptable work from a U.S.A. regionally accredited institution.
  • overall GPA of at least 2.0. Graduate students’ GPA is 3.0.
  • Undergraduate students must have a minimum of 30 semester hours of acceptable work from a U.S.A. regionally accredited institution.
  • Graduate students must have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S.A. regionally accredited institution or an equivalent degree from a non-U.S. institution as evaluated by an educational credentialing service.
  • Submit copies of non-blank pages of a valid passport. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months past the date of requested enrollment.
  • Copy of the I-94 departure record.
  • Copy of front and back of the I-20 from the previous school attended in the USA.
  • At least one of the following documents indicating ample funds available to the student to cover educational charges and living expenses for the first year of attendance.
  • Notarized letter of support and current bank statement (in U.S. funds) from student’s sponsor, or
  • Current bank statement (in U.S. funds) of the student, or
  • Affidavit of Support (USCIS Form I-134 (can only be completed if the sponsor is a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident).
  • An estimate of monthly living expenses, excluding educational costs.
  • Statement of the degree to be pursued at Amberton University.
  • Statement of student’s home country address.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. 80 TOEFL IBT (Internet-based test)
  • 550 TOEFL (Paper-based test)
  • 215 TOEFL (Computer-based test)

  • Pay fees. International students are still required to pay in full and must meet all F-1 and/or H1-B requirements.
  • Schedule Changes
  • Late Registration attracts a $25 fee.

This enables students to gather all the courses they’ve studied. Also if you’ll apply for financial aid, all transcripts must be submitted to Amberton university prior to awarding the Title IV Financial Aid.

When is the Due Date for Applications at Amberton University?

For the 2022 spring academic session, the application begins February 1 – March 20. Classes will start by March 13.

And the winter session, registration will start by Nov 1 and classes commence Decemeber 5th.

If you apply but didn’t complete your registration before the deadline students will pay $25 late fee.

Financial Aids at Amberton

Amberton university participates in the following federal financial aid programs (Title IV): Federal Pell Grant (Title IV) and Federal Direct Loans (Title IV).

Pell Grants are basically non–refundable loans given to undergraduate students of Amberton who have not earned a bachelor’s degree.

To get any financial aid, you must submit official transcrips.
