For Undergraduate Application:

Students applying to the College of Charleston for admission in fall 2021 can choose if they want to use test scores as part of the application and evaluation process while applicants to the Honors College will not be required to submit test scores.

The middle 50% of freshmen will have to score between 23 and 29 (in-state) and 26 and 30 (out-of-state) for the ACT test and also between 1110 and 1280 (in-state), and 1170 and 1320 (out-of-state) for the SAT test in addition to consistent academic achievement in the A/B range if they are to be accepted.

South Carolina HOPE Scholarship

It is a $2800 state scholarship and it is awarded for two semesters during your initial year of college enrolment.

For a student to be eligible; you must be a U.S. citizen; you must be a South Carolina resident at the time of high school graduation and must have graduated from South Carolina high school, you must be a full-time undergraduate student at the CofC, you must not have been convicted in any form of misbehavior.

The South Carolina HOPE Scholarship is for incoming freshmen with a 3.00 GPA on the S.C. Uniform Grading Scale who did not receive the LIFE Scholarship or Palmetto Fellows and must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.

The student must read and accept the Terms and Conditions and accept the award via MyCharleston.

As the HOPE Scholarship is for the freshman year only, students may gain eligibility to receive the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship beginning in their second year.

South Carolina LIFE Scholarship

The current LIFE scholarship award for students in South Carolina is $5000 annually and an additional $2500 Enhancement could also be available for scholars in their second year or after.

For a student to be eligible; you must be a U.S. citizen; you must be a South Carolina resident at the time of high school graduation and must have graduated from South Carolina high school, you must be a full-time undergraduate student, you must not have been convicted in any form of misbehavior.

The student shouldn’t be receiving the South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship and must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.

If you have been offered the scholarship, then you need to complete the eligibility certification by visiting Self-Service Carolina (SSC) and clicking on ‘Financial award, Award, and Award for Aid Year.’

Select ‘Terms and Conditions’ and complete the certification.

State Scholarship Enhancements

The State of South Carolina has created $2500 per year Enhancements for Palmetto Fellows and LIFE Scholarship recipients majoring in both science or math fields and the student must be a second-year student or beyond and meet first-year requirements in order to receive the Enhancement.

For you to be eligible, you must; have received either a LIFE or Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, be a second, third or fourth-year student, have declared a Science or Math major in an eligible program before the first day of the Fall semester, completed the first-year requirements during the first academic year.

No application for the Enhancements Scholarship is required since the eligibility for the scholarship will automatically be determined after Spring grades are posted and LIFE or Palmetto Fellows eligibility has been determined.

South Carolina Teaching Fellows

The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship is a $5700 award that is offered every year for a maximum of four years.

The SC Teaching Fellows Program is a merit-based program designed to recruit talented high school seniors into the teaching profession and to help them develop leadership qualities.

A maximum of 200 high school seniors, who have exhibited high academic achievement and have a desire o teach in South Carolina are given the scholarship. The South Carolina Center for Teacher Recruitment administers the Teaching Fellows program

Alumni Association Scholarship

The Alumni Association was created in 1981 and has proudly offered scholarships for the last 43 years.  This year money was awarded to 16 students.

Some scholarships are open only to children and relatives of alumni, but others are open to all students. Scholarships are based on demonstrated leadership potential. Applications are available on their website.

Eligible students must attain a 3.5 cumulative high school grade point average and should submit; a 500 word essay about the given question and a letter of recommendation. Scholarship recipients are selected based on their academic records, leadership skills and involvement in communal work, and demonstrated financial need.

The College of Charleston Young Alumni Association sponsors the Young Alumni Scholarship, which provides $1,000 towards tuition at the Graduate School of the College of Charleston.

Departmental Scholarships

Departmental Scholarships are awarded by individual departments at the College of Charleston.

  • A Cover Letter/Statement of Goals; where you are required to a well-crafted, quick review of your background, why you plan to pursue an MBA at the College and your career goals post-graduation. This has no word limit.
