The Dade County schools have a variety of different schools to offer students, with many different curriculums and cultures. In order to ensure that each student receives the best education possible, there are a few things you need to know about the school calendar. Here we will discuss some of the main points on what students can expect for today, and how it effects them. There are three main calendars: traditional, rotating and block schedule calendars. A traditional school calendar has Mondays off and classes start on Tuesday and end on Friday. The Rotating School Calendar is similar to the Traditional School Calendar; however, it’s in continuous cycle where classes meet Monday-Friday with vacations alternating between summer break and Christmas break. A Block Schedule School Calendar has one week blocks of four days (Mondays-Thursdays) rather than two days (Monday-Friday). Students would then have five consecutive days off at the end of each block period while maintaining 180 teaching days per year.
