Generally, SDSU has an acceptance rate of 35%. So, if you meet other admission requirements – it may not be so hard to get into SDSU.

SAT stands for Scholastic Assessment Test. It is a standardized test taken in the USA for all students seeking admission into undergraduate schools.

The SAT tests cover the areas of Writing, Critical Reading, and Mathematics. The score is on a scale of 1110 -1310.

The ACT is an acronym for American College Testing. The ACT test covers English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science reasoning for undergraduate admissions. It has a score line of 22 and 28.

GPA is an abbreviation of Grade Point Average. In fact, it is a number that shows the average score you get for your courses. The number is 3.7

SDSU Admission Requirements

Before we dive into the acceptance rate of San Diego State University, you should focus on only a few critical things:

GPA Requirements

The GPA requirement that really matters is the GPA you need for a real chance of getting in. For this, we look at the school’s average GPA for its current students. The average GPA at SDSU is 3.73

SDSU requires you to be above average With a GPA of 3.73,  in your high school class. You’ll need at least a mix of A’s and B’s, with more A’s than B’s. This will show that you can really handle more difficult academics more than the average high school students.

SAT and ACT Requirement

Each school has different requirements for standardized testing. Most schools require the SAT or ACT, and many also require SAT subject tests.

You must take either the SAT or ACT to submit an application to SDSU. More importantly, you need to do well to have a strong application.

The 25th percentile ACT score is 22, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 28. Even if SDSU likely says they have no minimum ACT requirement, if you apply with a 22 or below, you’ll have a very hard time getting in unless you have something else very impressive in your application.

SDSU Acceptance Rate

Admission to SDSU is highly competitive, base on the SDSU acceptance rate which is 34%. For example, in 2019 for the students applying for the class of 2023, out of 59,051 applicants, SDSU admitted about 20,321.  

The average GPA of admitted applicants was 3.69, the average ACT score was 25, and the average SAT score was 1190.

However for students taking the ACT, the 25th percentile score of successful applicants is 22, and the 75th percentile score is 28, while for the SAT, the 25th percentile score is 1090. The 75th percentile score is1300.

If you’re somewhere in the middle of these numbers, remember that a high test score can compensate for a slightly lower GPA, and vice versa.

SDSU Application Requirements For Class Of 2022

You’ll need to fill out the Cal State apply online application, submit an ACT or SAT score, and pay the $55 application fee to SDSU. Everything should be submitted by November 30th. Here’s a full list of application requirements:
