What is West Los Angeles College?
West Los Angeles College (WLA) is a public, two-year community college in the Westside region of Los Angeles. The college offers more than 150 programs to students seeking Associate degrees, both general and vocational. WLA serves as the center of higher education in the western half of Los Angeles and its surrounding communities, providing relevant vocational training and development as well as courses that transfer to four-year universities.

The college occupies 70 park-like acres overlooking Culver City, Marina Del Rey, and Greater West Los Angeles. On a clear day, you can see the Pacific Ocean from the highest points on campus.

WLAC Accreditation Status

Residents of California pay an annual total price of $23,549 to attend West Los Angeles College on a full-time basis. This fee is comprised of $1,196 for tuition, $1,971 for books and supplies, and $24 for other fees.

Out of state residents are charged a total cost of $30,439 which is 29.3% higher than California residents. The tuition charge is $8,086 while books and supplies are $1,971 and other fees come in at $24.

The cost of attendance is based on the Student Expenses and Resources Survey (SEARS) data and updated for three years of inflation using the estimated California Consumer Price Index.

The financial aid office may also add the following to a student’s cost of attendance, if applicable:

  • Out of State Non-Resident Fee: $282 per unit (in addition to the $46 per unit enrollment fee)
  • Foreign Citizen Non-Resident Tuition for International Students studying from outside the U.S.: $282 per unit tuition fee (in addition to the $46 per unit enrollment fee) + $50 Application Fee
  • Foreign Citizen Non-Resident Tuition for International Students with an F-1 Visa.: $282 per unit tuition fees + $46 per unit enrollment fee + $50 Application Fee +  $25 SEVIS Processing Fee + $761 Insurance Fall/Spring (6 month coverage)
  • Child Care cost: $1,000 annually
  • Equipment and Fees: $7,000 (for students accepted into the Dental Hygiene Bachelors’ Degree Program
