About Nigeria Union of Teachers

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) was founded in July 1931 by the amalgamation of the first two teachers Associations in Nigeria, namely, Lagos Union of Teachers (LUT), formed in 1925 with its founding President as Rev. Canhon J.O. Lucas and the Association of Headmasters of Ijebu Schools (AHIS), led by Rev. I.O. Ransome Kuti, formed in 1926. At an inaugural meeting of the two groups held at CMS Grammar School, Lagos on 8th and 9th July, 1931, a Constitution was drafted and ratified and the Nigeria Union of Teachers.

• Candidates must possess a good University Degree or Higher National Diploma in Co-operative Studies and / or Community (Social) Development. Candidates who possess GCE O/L, or its equivalent plus OND/NCE in Cooperative Studies or Community Development may also wish to apply.
• Candidates must not be earning higher than salary grade 08
• Age: Candidates applying for this position must not be above Forty (40) years of age. Evidence of birth certificate must be attached.
• Candidates must have sound knowledge and skills in Computer and ICT.

2) Accountant

Requirements: 

• Candidates must possess a good Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accountancy with a minimum of Three (3) years post qualification experience and must not be earning higher than salary grade level 09. Teaching experience will be an added advantage
• Age: Candidates applying for this position must not be above Forty (40) years of age. Evidence of birth certificate must be attached.
• Candidates must have sound knowledge and skills in Computer and ICT.
• Locations: Ebonyi, Abia and Gombe

3) Assistant Secretary

Requirements: 

• Candidates must possess at least a good University Degree in Education, the Arts or Social Sciences with a minimum of 3 years post qualification teaching experience and must not be earning higher than salary grade level 09.
• Age: Candidates applying for this position must not be above Forty (40) years of age. Evidence of birth certificate must be attached.
• Candidates must have sound knowledge and skills in Computer and ICT.
• Locations: Kebbi, Bayelsa, Edo, Yobe, Imo, Ebonyi, Cross River, Benue, Abia, Osun, Katsina and GombeEntry Point: CONPSS 09

4) State Secretary

Requirements: 

• Candidates must possess at least a good University Degree in Education, the Arts or Social Sciences with a minimum of five (5) years post qualification teaching experience.Higher Degrees, years of teaching and Trade Union experiences will be added advantage. Candidates must not be earning higher than salary grade level 10.
• Age: Candidates applying for this position must not be above Forty (40) years of age. Evidence of birth certificate must be attached.
• Candidates must have sound knowledge and skills in Computer and ICT.
• Locations: Bauchi, Jigawa, Cross River, Benue, Sokoto and Kebbi

5) Executive Officer (Computer Operations)

Requirements: 

• Candidates must possess NCE, OND or HND Certificate or a University Degree in the relevant discipline.
• Age: Candidates applying for this position must not be above Forty (40) years of age. Evidence of birth certificate must be attached.
• Candidates must have sound knowledge and skills in Computer and ICT.
• Location: Plateau

6) Executive Officer

Requirements: 

• Candidates must possess NCE, OND or HND Certificate or a University Degree in the relevant discipline.
• Adequate experience in a relevant area will be an added advantage.
• Candidates must not be earning higher than salary grade 08
• Age: Candidates applying for this position must not be above Forty (40) years of age. Evidence of birth certificate must be attached.

• Locations: Jigawa, Ebonyi and Abia

7) Confidential Secretary

Requirements: 

• Candidates must possess School Certificate or (CS III) GCE with credit pass in English Language and OND.
• 100 / 50 WPM in short hand and typewriting respectively or equivalent professional qualification and must be literate in Computer Operations.
• Age: Candidates applying for this position must not be above Forty (40) years of age. Evidence of birth certificate must be attached.
• Candidates must have sound knowledge and skills in Computer and ICT.
• Location: Anambra
